El Compaye Restaurant & Taqueria - Authentic Latin Flavors and Homemade Mexican Dishes in Smithtown, NY

Was just driving down the road and decided to stop here for a quick bite! The outdoor seating was so cute and seemed like they were in the process of updating the paint of everything. My boyfriend and I split the combo with the quesadilla and 2 tacos and thought it was a great value for the money! Flavors were very good and we will definitely be back!

So glad I found this hidden treasure. Their food is super fresh, homemade and DELISH! So far I ordered the beef empanadas which is amazing, crunchy and stuffed with meat (see photos), I also had their chicken wings….Soooooo tender! I couldn’t decided which sauce ( honey or boom) do they were sweet enough to provide both sauces ( see photos). Still can’t decide which I prefer since they were both equally YUMMY! My take is: Honey has more of a terriyaki vibe while the Boom sauce was more chipotle!. The nachos were nice and light but the star of that show is the salsa! Salsa by Sarah…phenomenal homemade salsa … thanks Sarah! It was nice and thick, very flavorful but not spicy…definitely order this! I highly recommend this place…say hi to Claudia, Frank, Alex, Sarah and Maria. ( as yiu can see when I saw the salsa, I dug into it before take the pic - that’s why the basket is 1/2 empty….lol) Let’s welcome this family to the neighborhood - you won’t regret! So lovely people and To-Die-For food!!

My daughter studies at Stony Brook University, and we were visiting her when we found this amazing Latin restaurant nearby. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was warm and family-friendly, and everyone was incredibly kind. The food was absolutely delicious — they even served empanadas as a house courtesy! The best part is how friendly they were with our dog — they even brought her some water. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be coming back!

I can't recommend Spollets enough. The homemade tortillas make their tacos exceptional, and the empanadas are incredibly fresh and tasty. It’s a very clean restaurant with great service and a wonderful, family-owned atmosphere. I will definitely be back!

Not a fast food but rather amazing home cooked meals. The atmosphere is very laid back with a few cafeteria booths and outdoor picnic tables. Very no frills. But the tacos, burritos, and apps make you feel like you’re visiting a friend’s home. Incredible taste. It doesn’t make you feel sick like many take out places because the food is high quality. Definitely worth the trip north of town for great food.

Amazing food. This place should be crowded! It's under new ownership and everything we tried was freshly made from the salsa to tacos epinadas, pupusa and banana bread. The cook is unbelievable and so is all the food. Stayed warm and enjoyed the meal indoors. Definitely coming here again!

El Compaye is a true hidden gem. Elmer welcomes you with warmth, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere is beautifully cared for. The tacos are outstanding, but the real star is the coconut flan — simply the best. And the best part: they’re pet-friendly!”

I finally stopped her for a snack and ended up eating dinner and it was fabulous! The most authentic Mexican food I have had in ages. It took me down to the Yucatan in Mexico away from all the touristy places. The food was. Fresh, homemade and delicious. It’s perfect. Will be back soon!
